Bhargav's Talepiece

The bouncer and the dancer - Part 37

SS was expected to ACT UPON the instructions given him and he did just that.

The ATTENDANT was not HOSTILE and the PROCEDURE of handing over the envelope was over within minutes.

In a mood of CONTENTMENT he went to the bar in the EASTERN corner of the main dining hall in the restaurant.

He ordered his Irish mule ( Irish whiskey, GINGER ALE and Lime mix).

Soon the restaurant was full including a few GATE CRASHERS. SS could hear the FROU FROU of the RAMIE nylon dresses of Kayal and Lily.

Soon the stage would be set AFIRE with their dance numbers.

Another clever if not the CLEVEREST move by SS to get right back into his plan.

  1. 1a: Is 'crasher' from 'result'?
1d: in think the anno should be
    {aGaIN}{REGALE}*
4d: Is 'fleeing' an anagram indicator?

  2. 1A- When GET A crashes you get gate. So it is a gatecrasher.
1D- The way you have put it Gin comes first. So the whole thing is the anagram fodder.
    4D- Yes

    3. Thank you KKR.
Regarding 'fleeing' at 4 down, I have checked earlier crosswords in ths blog and found that Sankalak (1d of THC dated 13.12.2011), Dr. Satyen Nabar (23a of Special Sunday dated 20.8.2017) and WGC IIT(M) (15d of Special Sunday dated 3.5.2015) have used 'fleeing' as deletion indicators. Of course Afterdark has used it as anagrind in his THC dated 15.6.2015 (3 down). Hence my doubt whether it is deletion indicator or anagrind.

    4. Fleeing can mean breaking loose or take off. So, as the situation demands, the setter can use.

You seem to have done a lot of research and home work. Thank you for all the ref.'s. It is always a pleasure to be reminded about old CW's.
