  3. I was so intent on solving and enjoying the CW, I missed the wood for the trees. Felt bad since I had read the book and enjoyed it. One of Christe's best.

    4. Reminded of a very old joke of trains running late,
A man was surprised that the GT express (then the only train to Delhi from Chennai, nee Madras) came an hour ahead of schedule. Imagine his horror when he was told that it was yesterday's train and that it is actually 23 hours late!!

  5. DAISY.
She was far from UGLY. She looked quite charming and NEAT in her GREY salwar.
Her ambition was to become an author and if you asked her who wrote " MURDER on the ORIENT Express" she would immediately without batting an eyelid say AGATHA CHRISTIE.
She felt that the COACH appointed to prepare her for the entrance EXAM was a COLOSSAL waste. There was this FLAW... The MAIN aim of parents was that their children should become Doctors or Engineers, Why? Why can't they ACCEPT her desire and ambition she thought as she CARESSED the draft of the story she had written, before sending it to the magazine....

    1. No dear Vasant: I went to Singapore (& Malaysia) for the first time ever on a holiday to be with my (now) wife). My job took me to Kenya, my kids' need for further education to Toronto , where they graduated from and then to Japan where my son picked up a job. Later to the US ( NY) where my daughter is working ( with her husband ). Later , I re-visited Nagoya again to see my grandson , spent a month and then again twice to NY where my daughter gave birth to twins. All these trips I attribute to happenchances when I am compelled to, in the call of my duty . The only holidays I have had were to the UK and then to Mauritius , a free junket courtesy the British Airways ,for goofing up our trip to the UK earlier.

Now that you have pointed out, I do agree that I have travelled far and wide, though unwillingly and under duress of family needs. Hahaha ! I eat crow now !

  8. My first visit abroad was only in 2007. till then I used to say that my Passport is unblemished! So everyone has his own time and schedule. But interest to travel and see places is in everyone, I am sure.

  9. Kishore in his punning best - 21 down is delectably concocted into a salacious Idly and chutney . Again, 20 down - caressed - is soft and smooth as the word suggests- with our wothout contents of the pleated pleasant apparel !
