    2. Probably, with so many splits in the party, the grand old INC is extinct!

  4. 17A-DD seems fine,
Inside job is a crime, that is done from within or 'not without'.

    1. Royal as noun stands for Royal Person too.

    2. Princess Royal is a Substantive title customarily (but not automatically) awarded by a British monarch to his or her eldest daughter.

  9. Surprising that the solution for 7D appears verbatim in the referred clue 16D. A major lapse by Gridman

    1. 7d looks not at any part of the clue 16d but at the solution which I'd ROADKILL for which another word is REMAINS.

    2. I didn't find any lapse. In fact the two were the last ones in for me.

  10. The Chef of an Italian restaurant made such RAVIOLI that soon turned out to be his PASSPORT to STARDOM.
A PRINCESS heard about this and arranged for an INSIDE JOB. She CAST OFF her Royal image and slipped out despite BARKING dogs and tight security PROVISION.
IN A WORD she had great food, Ravioli, GLASSFUL of wine, et al.
Whether her joy RIDE came to be known, REMAINS to be seen.

  11. Shall we offer the Princess GLASSFUL of CLARET in stead?

  12. Though very inhuman, ROADKILL is a very good cryptic clue. So is LANCE CORPORAL> Enjoyed today's crossie ! Thanks Gridman.

    3. Since this was an easier grid, now time matters. I took 33 minutes which I felt was a bit on the higher side. Supersolvers would have sub 15 min times.
