    1. The solution is LIE PERDU
      LIE,(PER)D U

    2. Lie Perdu is a Jim/Blair story by Sihaya Black. It has a sequel, Lock 'n' Load
      This is what I got from wiki. short story or a work of fiction.

    3. AC 10 Wait to attack fabricated fiction about a university (3,5)
      My take was:
      Fabricated fiction - LIED
      A = PER
      University= U

    1. How do you get TEARFUL from that?

      Delete
    2. Dodger-> ET

      Short in height -> -t

      Delete
    3. Dodger = ET How? How is short in height = -T? What is lazybones for?

      Delete
    4. I am with you Col.
      Something is missing.
      Why should we take artful dodger? Will it not become an indirect anagram?

      Delete
    5. Dodger->fugitive->alien
      Sort in height ->not Tall/top(t)

      Lazy ->placed on side (rather than upright)
      Bones->back
      Both applied to dodger (ET)

    6. Good one Ajeesh. But what's the role of 'lazybones'?

      Delete
    7. Thanks Ajeesh,
      Things appear to be clear now!

      Short of height/lazybones = -ht [ht for height as per Chambers] and lazybones = Dodger as per Chambers Thesaurus.

  11. Nice grid from Scintillator. Will EXIT POLL not qualify for a DD or CD?

    We had Broadband giving us a wide berth in CBE for two days, with the result , I had to try the ICL on my smartphone. At some point, I got so exasperated with the rising and falling of the screen coupled with the irksome software that maybe,subconsciously, I hit the SUBMIT or was it an accident or a slip of the digit ? What a digital failure !! I gave up. There was no way I could get back the grid but I managed to complete from elsewhere incognito !!!

  12. Thanks for the blog and clearing up the annos. Theme of vital fluids and pangram as far as I can remember...

    1. With all our minds busy scrambling for annos, neither the theme nor the fact that it is a pangram went unnoticed. Yes, now things fall in place, except for theanno of 19d- Tearful.
      Would you please clarify that for us?
