    While these Sunday special crosswords do have many excellent clues and those clues receive abundant praise from solvers, I would want some critique - call it criticism, if you will.

    In the above clue, "into" in surface reading becomes "in to" in wordplay. I like this.

    But, I don't think "setter's turning" can give IM. It can give EM. For IM a rewrite will be needed.

    Also, 's in clues may be interpreted in one manner in surface reading and another in WP. I don't think that works here.

    Not that I want to be a spoilsport but certainly I will be honest enough to say what I feel. And if I make a mistake, I will readily apologise.

      CV Sir thanks for the greatly valued criticism. My logic was this: consider the case as if it wasnt setter"s but say another non_possessive form e.g DOG if the clue had "dog turning into ..." (with a different answer of course) it would be a valid instruction to turn DOG around. The same way if we see setter"s as a single word and not as "setter is" then the clue works for me.

      I also wanted to own up to a mistake in 2D somebody pointed out that ass is not a recognised abbr for associate but association is. Very true. I had assistant in mind which is also valid (eg ass prof) but made a mistake... mea culpa :-)
