    1. OK, I felt that Camera Shy is an adjective, describing a person.

    2. You asked a question but too soon you're satisfied.
As you have said in the latter Comment, 'camer-shy' is an adj.
The def 'avoid getting shot' doesn't seem to lead to an adj but only a verb.
I don't know how the clue can be revised as no quick-fix seems to be available.
These Comments of mine are always made in the interests of crossword clueing techniques and to provoke healthy discussion on the art. Not to detract from the merit of the crossword itself.

    3. Does it matter if the def. is 'to avoid getting shot'?

    4. Its still an action and hence denotes a verb.

    1. (Biology) a part of an organism consisting of a large number of cells having a similar structure and function: connective tissue; nerve tissue.

    1. As an aside, the surface was too good in connecting Tissue and nose, it didn't even occur to me to look into what you have mentioned

      Delete
    2. Exactly. Tissue & nose led me into a totally different direction and I came nowhere near a tendon until I saw it in the blog.

I lost out on SALTATORY - I had rushed to put in SALVATORY as a homophone of "salve a Tory", with salve used in the sense of salvage(=save), and kept looking for the homphone indicator and definition! :)

Thanks to DG for the blog.

  13. Keening used to be the customary loud wailing at the death of someone, just like you see in some rural Indian villages. We were taught it was Irish, but in wiki it is shown as existed elsewhere in the Britain.
