    Tripe and Onions is a speciality dish of Lancashire (North England)

  3. TRIPE: parts of the stomach of a cow or sheep, used as food. Possibly a dish, prepared using Tripe, by the Scots.

    17 Flares up over recently stolen photograph (8) SNAPSHOT {SNAPS<=}{HOT}

    Why SNAPS<= ? Snaps : Flares up.

  4. I too thought of the Scots and haggis wrt the northerners. Calling their food rot is no way to encourage them to remain in the UK!

    1. Remember the def. of 'Oats' supposedly by Johnson- "Food for horses in England and men in Scotland"! Englishmen are probably notorious for such comments.

  8. Lover's lost love in European capital (4) OS for lovers LO from lost? could be a Neyarthan or Enjay's trick? Good decoy, though. If 9 out of 10 solvers had put in OSLO, the compiler can chuckle in his sleeves !! Yuk Yuk !!

    Good crossie that should be tried by all the bloggers. I, for one, was on 14 across after solving this ! Why aren't they visiting this every Sunday?
