    2. I would think of the anno as EP{1}CHANT I
      with about meaning around 1

    4. Then there would be no AInd for 'I chant'

    5. That's it. Deepak's anno is nearer the compiler's intention.

    6. AInd is fine, but where is the anagram. I chant appears as is.

    7. My Merriam Webster Dictionary has only "epicanthial" and no word like "epicanthi".

    8. Maradnusro,

      Epicanthi is plural of Epicanthus which is in the dictionary

    1. 11 Pole sometime in first part of play is lax (7) INEXACT {I}{N}{EX}{ACT}

      Pole = N
      sometime = formerly = EX
      in = insertion indicator
      first = I
      part of play = ACT
      lax = I(N EX)ACT

    2. Pole sometime in first part of play is lax:
      This is how I had interpreted the clue

      Pole = N
      Sometime = EX ( late, former, onetime, sometime etc can all be ex )
      in = containment indicator
      first = 1 = I
      part of play = ACT
      is = link word
      lax = Defn

      NEX in IACT = INEXACT = lax
