  1. Hello all

Failed to get 11A and 19D (have OOMPAH in mind, but cannot annotate).

Needed uncle Google to get LEGERDEMAIN, OENOPHILE (nice, new word for me) and ARETHA FRANKLIN.

Liked ESTAMINET, ALTERCATION, OKAPI, PAINTBALL, ON THE RUN, LATTERLY, SABOTAGE, UNCONVENTIONAL, MINSTER, RAPIER, REALISTIC, IN SEASON, PATCH and others. Special mention for word-play in 5A (A SWELL and AS WELL).

Looking forward to Rendezvous Sunday 1030, time permitting. Just wondering who the new setter could be. May anonymity prevail, nevertheless.

  4. Guess no one uses expressions like Cor Blimey these days, but anyone who has read William, Jennings, Biggles and the like would have caught on pretty quick.
