    "one who accumulates" could by itself mean a compiler,isn't it?

  5. Was happy to see old Dahl in the clues. Apart from his famous stories, I thoroughly enjoyed his version of nursery rhymes and his account of his time with the KAR

  6. ON SUNDAY"S CROSSWORD:

    Thanks col for the pics of AIREDALE & QUARTERSTAFF- Had you not done it, I'd have asked for it. THese pics give one a mental picture so vividly that next time when we come across such clues, there is a clear mntaal recall.

    This crossword also reminded me of our own compilers in the construction of the clues. I wonder whether any one of ours is contributing to the Guardian?
