    I wrote it as Indore, and struggled with 26A for a long time.

    I think "the" yields "ye" although its not mentioned as "the old".So first is on single duty referring to the T in tragedy.

  12. I believe,in India, abetment to suicide is a punishable offence? If so, the clues can amount to such a crime, as they frustrate and beat any logic.

    One has to resist suicidal tendencies.!~!
