ReplyDeleteThe first two words of the definition from your OED says it all. Where is the doubt?
ajay. SERENADE is also used a as a verb as per my OED. So nothing wrong in that. While SEANCE is not any meeting it is a meeting, so I guess it is ok.

ReplyDeleteThese days am holed up at home owing to a fracture of my foot so am able to do the crossword earlier in the day and compare notes. Else I usually leave the crossword for when i take the delhi metro and only look at the blog late night. Are there any Delhi folks who visit these pages too and are crossword aficionados
I was at Delhi for more than 30 years and moved to Chennai last year after my retirement. I have been doing crossword for the last 40 years (the addiction started when I was at IIT Madras), but bumped into this blog only last month and this has really rekindled my love towards cryptic crossword.
