  1. Hi,
    NESSIE is my cod, after all she is a water creature. Liked YEAST, ANN-OUNCE-R,

    Wondered where the s disappeared in 4d.
    11a show what ?

  2. 12 - Follows the order of the youth leaders (5) - {OBE}{Y}S 'S' from?

    I reverse engineered it as
    youth leader=Y
    youth leaders=Ys

    On the principle of conservation of mass, I would say the s came from 4d where it disappeared. A veritable wormhole.

    I would rather put them in the action reaction pair. You show and others look.

    Conservation of mass, action reaction, I think I am giving a physics session.

    I think contract serves as the deletion indicator.

    'Left behind' would be the deletion indicator for S.
    Doing double duty too

    That is the height of imagination :-)

  9. Low traffic. Time for moonshine ;-)

    For the numerically oriented (from Oscar Rojas, Costa Rica who wants us to figure out his car plate number):
    1) The plate is a six-digits even number, that may be taken as the concatenation of three two-digits numbers L, M, R. (Left, Middle, Right)
    2) There exist another two-digits number G, that is the "generating number". It is easy to remember because it is a power of 2.
    3) M is generated by repeating one of the two digits of G. I mean, the two digits of M are the same digit and this digit is in G.
    4) L = G + M.
    5) R = G - M.
    No brute force searches please, logic to be explained.

    For the spatially oriented ones, (from Varunesh):
    Coming back from Yoga in the early morning , saw the Moon near the horizon....
    As big as a Full Moon ..
    The time was such that morning or evening looked alike .
    Supposing ,you were disoriented in time & space , that is , you couldn't make out whether its morning or evening , which is East & which West ..
    Looking briefly at the Moon ( similar to what I saw this morning ) big & bright near the horizon , how can you tell :
    ( a ) Whether its morning or evening ?
    ( b ) Which direction is East ?
    ( You are allowed to only have a brief look , no extended gazing like a Valentine stuck lover , and yes , no stars are visible please . )

    For the disoriented ones, well we are orientals ;-)

    M even, G power of 2, M < G =>

    G =(could be) {16, 32, 64}

    M =(could be) {22, 44}

    LMR is 542210}

  13. Colonel,
    "Turn" is provided as a synonym for "set" at thesaurus.com. The meaning, when they are taken as nouns, is "physical bearing". And when they are verbs, it's "position, place". Not surprising given that SET is a word with a lot of (most?) meanings in a dictionary.

  14. Kishore,
    I'll know whether the Moon is setting or rising based on how the the "hare on the Moon" is oriented.

  15. [Noticed this after posting my previous comment]

    For the disoriented ones, well we are orientals ;-)

    Incidentally, Mare Orientale, for the Earth-based observer, is a rare sight, being right on the western limb. (Unless, of course, the person is looking at pictures sent back from spacecraft.)

  16. Right Navneeth, the rabbit is right side up when moon is rising and upside down when setting.

    The line on orientals was just a play on disoriented orientals and not connected to Mare Orientale.

  17. I seem to be a novice out here-disoriented oriental?

  18. The line on orientals was just a play on disoriented orientals and not connected to Mare Orientale.

    I knew that, and that's why what I said was incidental. ;-)

    Oh, and why isn't 862242 a solution for the first teaser?

  19. Navneeth,
    Your G=64.But your M is 22-which is not a repeat of either digits of G.
