Spiffytrix in 35a. 5a reminded of: Gar Firduas ruhe zamin ast, hamin asto hamin asto hamin asto. And S must be in the 7th Heaven.
I knew it that Inuit was a White house inhabitant. Norma, the DIVA, was reported to be Jack’s SWEETHEART. Spiffy seems to have skirted controversy by not using the name of an IAF person presently in the harsh floodlight when framing the clue for 11a.
Instead of bringing up AN-A-THE-MAs and becoming a 5d, let us remember not to forget the Burn’s version in Sean Connery’s voice:
    Shid ald akwentans bee firgot,
    an nivir brocht ti mynd?

  4. 2D Remove NAAN from Albanians for Basil. Or, add Basil to Naan to make Albanians

  6. Congrats to Spiffytrix and Family!

How many of you think 24A might have more than the Grid answer, given the context?

  7. 8 - Knitted the sweater for one's spouse? (10) - SWEETHEART* Will all spouses be sweethearts :-)

Worse luck, all sweethearts (of a person) can be spouses

18a We have entered the fourth dimension.

  8. Thanks VJ & Gita,
These deletion clues seem to be my undoing

  9. 2d is reverse anagram, I would think. Take 'naan' and 'basil' and 'prepare' them (anag ind) for ALBANIANS.
    There is no deletion there.

It was in this context that I said: Spiffytrix in 35a. 5a reminded of: Gar Firduas ruhe zamin ast, hamin asto hamin asto hamin asto. And S must be in the 7th Heaven.

I unfortunately jumped the gun, since I thought most visitors at Orkut would already have known the news.

Gita: How many of you think 24A might have more than the Grid answer, given the context?
I think if you think in the same vein, you could also interpret Deepak's "Hats off" in an offbeat manner.

  21. 4 - White house inhabitant could be in wife's kimono (6)

Some White house inhabitant was reported to be more in other ladies' kimonos or other dresses than in his wife's.

Liked the cartoon, Deepak, when you live in an igloo, you just have to hit the roof to make a drink on the rocks.

  36. Ode to our setters:

I like it when GRIDs are MANned grammatically.
And, those that are SPIFFY rather than a complicated maTRIX,
Or, puzzles that are not CRYPTic intO the NITE
And, some whose church clues are MANNA to the soul

When clues make sense , how come we say NEY ARTHA?
Like those that are SANs complications or ‘KALAK’…

Only one seems to he the anomaly
The one whose name rhymes here, almost perfectly!
