  1. I had exactly the same thought about the grid as you, Colonel, but found a reason for it.

    Am about to publish a post on Crossword Unclued about it soon - keep a watch :)

    Happy New Year to you too!

  2. A happy New Year to Col and the entire THC Solvers' Regiment.

    It was a New Year surprise to see Gridman in action. With much effort got words like EFFENDI and PINOT NOIR. The only two I failed to guess were OJETS D'ART and YOUTHFULNESS.

    Col, an 'O' is missing in 12 across:

    12 - A medical officer almost awake and randy (7) - {A}{M}{ROUS(-e)}

    By the way, are 'amorous' and 'randy' synonymous?

    Richard

  7. @tpa,
    Thanks for the correction, too many errors today, result of late night partying and early rising to get the blog in on time.
    As regards the grid, Gridman was not in a hurry for a New Year Party, have another look at the completed grid (you can see the completed one at Shuchi's blog) and you will see the reason for the same. Well I'll give you a hint it's a NINA!!
