    Ref your comment. Yes, but what is to be noted and appreciated is that the letter to be changed in straNgler is exactly the 'heart' of the word with four letters on either side of it. So I believe 'heart' serves the purpose. Less-than-careful clue writers may not adhere to this rule! Unlike in substitution clues, this one does not say what letter is to be replace the 'heart', either.
